More, after the jump.

Here's a real mind-blower, if you haven't read the story. A new fossil species of human has been identified from DNA from a finger-bone in Asia. That is not what is really exciting, though. The finger-bone dates between 30 000- 48 000 years ago. That means that there were three other species of humans sharing the planet with us, not so long ago: Neanderthal, Homo Floresiensis (the "Hobbit") and this new "X-Woman" branch.

I have yet to see mention of these stories on television news; Canadian or American.

Military caught covering up and obstructing investigation of civilian deaths in Afghanistan
and Iraq (two Reuters journalists - disturbing video; not for the kids);
NYT story.

Hey people; wake up! Covering your ass and then lying about it is NOT a matter of national security. It is dishonourable and does not merit protection, under that reason.

In a related story (Salon.com), WikiLeaks.org under attack by governments and corporations alike; an outlet for whistleblowers.
