Some old stuff

I finally got around to photographing some old pencil sketches and watercolours that my folks had been "preserving" for the last 13+ years. The rolls of papers look like they spent some time in the shed, the basement and maybe under the porch. They are a little musty, a little mildewed and starting to yellow from their acidic nature; so, it's time to record them and then toss 'em. I might keep a piece or two, if they are sufficiently special and not beyond saving; but, as of this writing, most of the rolls have already been trashed :(

I'll post some more, later. I'm having uploading "issues".

Tobacco pouch

A local lady asked me to make a pouch for her "Mark" and put his name on it. I used a Faux Alligator-Skin (stamped), lined with muslin. I didn't take a pic of it folded up, but it rolls up slightly bigger than a full pouch of tobacco (Velcro and tie thong closure; the button is part of the thong closure.).

Artwalk of Ranier

Angie from ShesaSheila.com
is hosting the second "Artwalk of Ranier", Saturday, November 26/05, @ Woody's Fairly Reliable Pub and Resort. Ranier, MN, is just east of International Falls and directly across the mouth of the Rainy River from Pither's Point Park in Fort Frances. Ranier is quite literally closer to my place than my studio and "Downtown" , here in the Fort.
:)
Broken Vulture Art/Bingorage will be there; so should you.

A project I'm thinking about

text

This painting I want to make, would be:
-Based on one of the most common, and resonant images of the regional "Rock - art"
pictograph motifs
-Three canvases, lag-bolted together.(Could be dismantled, for transportation)
-Have an overall height of thirteen feet, if displayed at height in pic.
-Have an overall width of thirteen feet.
-Use several gallons of acrylic paint.
-Incorporate three-dimensional (example)beadwork and (example) papier mache.

Now, all I need is someone to help me pay for it.
:)

Plus I need to find some places to display it and eventually give it a permanent home.

Starting the rawhide rattle

The Second Binorage Art Giveaway rattle has begun. I cut the two halves out of the deer hide and began soaking them yesterday. I'll go to the studio tonight to begin sewing them together.

rawhide halves

I think that this is the antler that I'll use for the handle.

antler

The rawhide pieces won't be sewn together, completely; A two-inch section of the seam will be left unfinished so that it can be sewn onto the antler, later. After the rattle head is sewn together, it will be turned right side out, filled with sand and allowed to dry and harden, for a couple days. After the head is dried, the sand will be dumped out and the neck of the rattle resoaked, so it can be stretched over the antler base (with beads inside, for rattling), then sewn completely closed.
The rattle is essentially done at that point, save extra decoration.

Bingorage stereogram #1

Go ahead; squint, cross your eyes and stare. Just before your eyeballs pop, you might see the embedded 3D image. It might help to click on pic for larger image. Enjoy.

Update: Oct.8; You're right Jade. Where are my manners? Stereogram generated by Bigle3D, from www.beroux.com.

Cheap, cheesy, chinese crap...

Posing as "Native Craft".
Sure; it's only a "dollar store" and nobody really expects to find authentic "Native goods" there. Probably about 95% of the products are cheap chinese crap, even cheaper and crappier than the cheap chinese crap to be found at W*lm*rt. This is the reason that I don't do dreamcatchers. Don't bother emailing me to see my dreamcatcher 'line'.
